#498, 32.2' x 10.2'- Pilot Version
Lineage:
The first of these was built by Viking Welding as a pilot boat for the US Virgin Islands. With a 19 degree transom deadrise and our usual steep forward sections, it offers a solid, seakindly and dry ride on those inevitable "lumpy" trips. The bow features a large radius cone to increase forward deck area. The layout has the house relatively far aft, and alternative arrangements could feature a long cuddy cabin, or the house shifted forward, or even an open, walk-around. The existing 400 gallon fuel capacity is space and weight that might be used differently. Twin 300 hp outboards push this hull at 45 mph, wide open.

The fendering is easily changed and the forward bustle for the two tire fenders is easily removed. This hull has also been built as a fire/rescue boat which, though heavier, shares a similar weight distribution and gets very high marks for rough water performance- "28 knots in steep 6 footers", etc.
